The Type ZR is a Lotus Seven Inspired Kitcar, designed by MAC#1 Motorsports to combine the classic elements of the two-seater sportscar concept with the power and flexibility of a wide range of engines such as the Ford Pinto and Zetec.
The evolution of the Type ZR brings:
Advantageous positioning of the engine and gearbox, providing simpler fitting and weight reduction.
Improved handling through high specification suspension.
Driver comfort increased through better component positioning.
Creation of a better overall weight balance within the car, improving handling, stability and performance.
This model is available in two forms:
Kit Format
All MAC#1 Motorsports kits have been developed with the customer in mind and can be constructed using basic tools, minimal mechanical knowledge and in a space no bigger than an average sized garage by you at home.
Broken down into relevant stages, the packs enable you to budget for time, money and space, ensuring all components are on hand when you want them.
Factory Built
For those of us who do not have the time or space to build our own, a Factory Built car is a great alternative. Collect your hand-built car from our factory, fully registered and ready to go.
The MAC#1 Type ZR kit has been deigned to take on average 150 hours to complete. You need:

We strongly recommend that you come and meet the team to order your chosen product. There are a number of decisions to be made, from colour to engine choice and we can help you understand the options available.

We ask for a deposit of £500 for a kit and £1000 for a factory built car.
Our average delivery times for kits are six to eight weeks from order, and for cars, twelve to sixteen weeks. Lead times do vary and we recommend that you contact the factory to find out the current availability.
To enable you to plan and budget for your build, we have grouped the relevant components into Stage Packs. This means that you can order the pack you need for the next stage of your build at a time that suits you.
You will need a van in order to collect your base kit. Alternatively we can organise delivery via a dedicated courier.

Chassis - The Type ZR Chassis is a fully triangulated spaceframe chassis made from 16-guage box-section and tubular steel.The chassis is supplied powder-coated in black as standard.
Suspension - We use Unequal Length Oval Wishbones to maintain optimum handling performance.
The wishbones are supplied powder-coated in black as standard.
Exchange Front Uprights - we will modify your donor uprights to ensure compatibility with the Type ZR suspension design.
Mushroom Adaptors - these are required to connect the Sierra upright from the McPherson strut to the wishbone type suspension.
Rear Uprights - new part, manufactured in-house.
Polyurethane Bush & Pin Kit - optimised through the addition of graphogen for superior suspension performance.
Exchange Steering Rack - we will modify your donor steering rack to suit the Type ZR design.
Add a Quick Rack & Pinion Kit to your exchange part to enhance the handling and suspension of your steering on the road.
Steering Rack Extensions - Manufactured In-House and designed to alleviate bump-steer.
Adjustable Pedal Set - manufactured in-house to provide optimum pedal alignment and improve driver comfort.
Traditional Rollbar - Your kit comes complete with a traditional rollbar powder-coated in black as standard. There are many rollbar options available from double-hooped, diagonal, rear braces, all the way through to a full roll cage with Side Impact Protection.

 The Stage 2: Fuel & Brake System Pack provides all new components for you to install your fuel delivery and braking systems. Used in combination with your donor parts, this pack will enable you to complete your chosen fuel and brake configuration.
Fuel Tank - bespoke tank for both injection or carburetor options, with a 30 litre capacity, internal baffles and swirl pot for seamless fuel delivery in hard-cornering.
High Pressure Fuel Pipe - SVA Compliant Fuel Pipe for both injection or carburetor models.

The MAC#1 Type ZR uses some of the base components of a Ford Sierra. Depending on your choice of engine, switchgear and other options, you will need to source a donor car and spend some time obtaining donor parts from the vehicle to redeploy in your kitcar.
